Are there exceptions for drug charges at college?

Being caught in the possession of drugs, with the intent to sell drugs, or being caught in the act of selling drugs is a serious crime. However, many students believe that they are safe to engage in this type of activity on campus, since they believe that the consequences of such activity is much more relaxed.

Although this might be somewhat true, it is extremely important that all college students know what the consequences of their actions in relation to drugs could mean for their future education and career prospects.

How do college police treat drug crimes?

School administrators do have the authority to govern the way that they treat crimes, such as drug possession or drug sales. Therefore, not all schools act in the same way. In general, large public universities are more likely to act harshly in relation to drug crimes than small, private colleges.

This can be because larger public schools have strict policies in place that are influenced by their cooperation with city police forces. In this way, college students get treated in much the same way as they would if they were any other citizen. It is also because larger universities become more integrated with the city as a whole; therefore, a crime inside of the college is almost the same as a crime within the city the school is in.

If you have committed a drug crime at college, it is very important to understand where your particular school stands on the issue. This will help you to be prepared for the consequences.
